More Than 2K People Have Been Shot in Chicago This Year

Sixty-four people were shot over the holiday weekend. But the left only talks about ‘assault rifles.’

(NEWSER) – It’s only halfway through the year and there have already been more than 2,000 shooting victims in Chicago, far more than recorded in the city this time last year—and far more casualties than the US suffered in the Gulf War. The milestone was passed over the Fourth of July weekend, when police say four people were killed and Sixty-four people were shot over the holiday weekend. But the left only talks about ‘assault rifles.’ reports CNN, which describes the mayhem as a “war among criminals” that has caught many innocent people in the crossfire. Police say there have been 319 murders in Chicago so far in 2016, around 50% more than at this time last year. There were 2,988 shooting victims in the city in the whole of 2015.

“We have too many guns in the streets of Chicago and too many people willing to use them,” police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters Tuesday, though he didn’t answer when asked what police plan to do to keep the violence under control for the rest of the year, the Chicago Tribune reports. Before the Fourth of July weekend, when gun violence in the city usually spikes, police arrested 88 people in gang raids aimed at preventing shootings. Some 5,000 cops, several thousand more than usual, were on patrol over the weekend, but while the strategy initially seemed to be a success, almost 30 people were shot late Sunday, hours after Johnson told reporters it appeared progress had been made in reducing violence.

Donald Trump op-ed: My vision for a culture of life

tack Americs back
By DONALD J. TRUMP • 1/23/16 10:13 AM

Let me be clear — I am pro-life. I support that position with exceptions allowed for rape, incest or the life of the mother being at risk. I did not always hold this position, but I had a significant personal experience that brought the precious gift of life into perspective for me. My story is well documented, so I will not retell it here. However, what I will do with the remaining space is express my feelings about life, and the culture of life, as we just marked the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

I build things. There is a process involved in building things. We tap into a lot of disciplines with engineering being one of the most important. The rules for putting structures together are as strict as are the rules of physics. These rules have stood the test of time and have become the path to putting together structures that endure and are beautiful. America, when it is at its best, follows a set of rules that have worked since our Founding. One of those rules is that we, as Americans, revere life and have done so since our Founders made it the first, and most important, of our “unalienable” rights.

Over time, our culture of life in this country has started sliding toward a culture of death. Perhaps the most significant piece of evidence to support this assertion is that since Roe v. Wade was decided by the Supreme Count 43 years ago, over 50 million Americans never had the chance to enjoy the opportunities offered by this country. They never had the chance to become doctors, musicians, farmers, teachers, husbands, fathers, sons or daughters. They never had the chance to enrich the culture of this nation or to bring their skills, lives, loves or passions into the fabric of this country. They are missing, and they are missed.

The Supreme Court in 1973 based its decision on imagining rights and liberties in the Constitution that are nowhere to be found. Even if we take the court at its word, that abortion is a matter of privacy, we should then extend the argument to the logical conclusion that private funds, then, should subsidize this choice rather than the half billion dollars given to abortion providers every year by Congress. Public funding of abortion providers is an insult to people of conscience at the least and an affront to good governance at best.

If using taxpayer money to facilitate our slide to a culture of death were not enough, the 1973 decision became a landmark decision demonstrating the utter contempt the court had for federalism and the 10th Amendment. Roe v. Wade gave the court an excuse to dismantle the decisions of state legislatures and the votes of the people. This is a pattern that the court has repeated over and over again since that decision. Roe v. Wade became yet another incidence of disconnect between the people and their government.

We are in the middle of a presidential political cycle and votes will be cast in just days. The citizens of this nation will have the chance to vote for candidates who are aligned with their individual worldviews. It is my hope that they will choose the builder, the man who has the ability to imagine the greatness of this nation. The next president must follow those principles that work best and that reinforce the reverence Americans hold for life. A culture of life is too important to let slip away for convenience or political correctness. It is by preserving our culture of life that we will Make America Great Again.

Donald J. Trump is a candidate for president of the United States.

Sheriff: A Gun In Your Hand Sure Beats ‘A Cop On the Phone’

Sheriff-Grady-Judd-AP-640x448

by AWR HAWKING 17 Jan 2016

Florida Sheriff Grady Judd is urging residents in his county to arm up, stressing that it is “more important to have a gun in your hand than a cop on the phone.”

Judd is Sheriff of Polk County.

According to Fox News, “Judd believes guns allow citizens to defend themselves when police cannot.” Moreover, he wants criminals to know that citizens in his county will defend themselves.

Following an incident where a home invasion suspect was shot earlier this month, Judd said, “If you are foolish enough to break into someone’s home, you can expect to be shot in Polk County.”

“I want as many law-abiding citizens to arm themselves in this county as we can get.”

– Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke

Detroit Police Chief James Craig has spent the past two years pushing for citizens in his city to arm themselves for self-defense, and Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpario led the charge for citizens in Arizona to carry guns more often after the number of high-profile shootings across the country in 2015. And after the December 2 San Bernardino terror attack, Arpario told Breitbart News that armed citizens can take out the bad guys “before the cops arrive.”

In addition to Craig, Arpaio–and now, Judd–Police Chief Randy Kennedy (Hughes Springs, TX), Sheriff David Cole (Steuben County, NY,), Sheriff Michael A. Helmig (Boone County, KY), Sheriff Paul J. Van Blarcum (Ulster County, NY), and Sheriff Wayne Ivey (Brevard County, FL), have all urged residents with concealed carry permits to carry guns daily to stave off crime and terrorism.

NASA: Climate change shock: Burning fossil fuels ‘COOLS planet’

BURNING fossil fuels and cutting down trees causes global COOLING, a shock new NASA study has found.

we told them

Major theories about what causes temperatures to rise have been thrown into doubt after NASA found the Earth has cooled in areas of heavy industrialization where more trees have been lost and more fossil fuel burning takes place.

Environmentalists have long argued the burning of fossil fuels in power stations and for other uses is responsible for global warming and predicted temperature increases because of the high levels of carbon dioxide produced – which causes the global greenhouse effect.

While the findings did not dispute the effects of carbon dioxide on global warming, they found aerosols – also given off by burning fossil fuels – actually cool the local environment, at least temporarily.

The research was carried out to see if current climate change models for calculating future temperatures were taking into account all factors and were accurate.

A NASA spokesman said: “To quantify climate change, researchers need to know the Transient Climate Response (TCR) and Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity (ECS) of Earth.

“Both values are projected global mean surface temperature changes in response to doubled atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations but on different timescales.

“TCR is characteristic of short-term predictions, up to a century out, while ECS looks centuries further into the future, when the entire climate system has reached equilibrium and temperatures have stabilised.”

The spokesman said it was “well known” that aerosols such as those emitted in volcanic eruptions and power stations, act to cool Earth, at least temporarily, by reflecting solar radiation away from the planet.

He added: “In a similar fashion, land use changes such as deforestation in northern latitudes result in bare land that increases reflected sunlight.”

Kate Marvel, a climatologist at GISS and the paper’s lead author, said the results showed the “complexity” of estimating future global temperatures.

She said: “Take sulfate aerosols, which are created from burning fossil fuels and contribute to atmospheric cooling.

“They are more or less confined to the northern hemisphere, where most of us live and emit pollution.

Obama’s IRS: “Where Criminals Go Free and Americans Fear Their Government”

lois lerner

10/27/2015 12:00:00 PM – Katie Pavlich

Late last Friday the Department of Justice announced attorneys would not be issuing criminal charges to Lois Lerner, the former head of tax exempt organizations at the IRS and the woman at the center of the IRS targeting scandal.

It was no surprise DOJ announced it wasn’t pressing charges, because after all, considering DOJ attorneys colluded with Lerner on efforts to throw at least one conservative leader in jail to send a message, they’d also have to bring charges against themselves. As a reminder:

Last year emails revealed former IRS official Lois Lerner was in contact with the Department of Justice Criminal Division about criminally prosecuting conservative tea party groups for pursuing political activity (opposed to President Obama’s agenda) by “posing” as non-profit organizations.

Now, new documents obtained by government watchdog Judicial Watch through two different Freedom of Information Act lawsuits show extensive collaboration between the IRS and DOJ (and subsequently the FBI) to go after conservative groups with criminal charges. The IRS likely violated federal law by illegally sharing 1.25 million pages of taxpayer information with DOJ, which were contained on nearly two dozen FBI backup tapes. Further, information shows DOJ wanted IRS officials who were scheduled to testify in front of Congress about the targeting scandal to turn over planned remarks to them first before delivering on Capitol Hill.

Now that DOJ has issued its non-punishment, individuals and groups targeted by the IRS, DOJ and Lerner are speaking out.

“We’re still in court fighting it out. The irony even in our court case is that the same attorneys that closed the investigation are also defending the IRS against us in court. This is a lawless generation, a lawless administration where criminals go free and Americans fear their government,” True The Vote President and Founder Catherine Engelbrecht said during an interview with Fox News yesterday. “It certainly makes a mockery out of everything we’ve been through over the past two years.”

“By failing to indict Lois Lerner, the Obama Justice Department – or, should we say, the Obama Injustice Department – is making a mockery of this ‘investigation,’ when countless American citizens, by Ms. Lerner’s own admission, were persecuted by the Internal Revenue Service. This is a woman, after all, who looked into the camera at a national television audience and directly at a congressional committee and refused to answer their questions for fear of incriminating herself,” Tea Party Patriots President Jenny Beth Martin said in a statement. “This is just the latest evidence that the Justice Department, whether under Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch, has simply become the political hatchet-men for President Obama and his cronies throughout the Administration. Clearly, we cannot rely on the Department of Justice to provide justice. Consequently, we continue to urge Congress to vigorously investigate the IRS, Ms. Lerner, and their illegal persecution of law abiding American citizens. If Speaker-To-Be Paul Ryan wants to earn support from grassroots activists across the country, he will not let Congress rest until justice is done.”

I’ll leave you with this.
